Summer character concept
I see them as a tough punk guy always ready for a fight. They like to show off their strength and swear a lot. Edgy to the point that they literally have fire for shoes

Summer character concept
I see them as a tough punk guy always ready for a fight. They like to show off their strength and swear a lot. Edgy to the point that they literally have fire for shoes
Spring (charecter) concept
I see them as a rebellious youngster, who wants to do things their way and go overboard with everything.
They have pink hair and wair transparent light clothing embroidered with flowers and probably constantly have wind around them
This week I carried on with the character as well as the terrain deign.
I’ve been enjoying character design quite a lot lately/ I even think my drawing skills have improved slightly
Chao seems to like my designs which is very encouraging.
Here is the sketch for the autumn character
I really liked our meeting this week, as we discussed a lot of practical issues. We may want to simplify the story in order to not have to rely on dialog so much. As if we leave the story as it is rn the only way for us to convey it, considering our skillset would be to do a voice over and that is not that entertaining.
We also discussed the general design/look/
We are thinking about cartoony general look, some-what simplified look for the terrain and more detailed look for the characters. Each season will have their own colour pallet.
Now we will probably start going into more technical aspects such as researching AR and character modeling
Thumbnail seasons terrain concepts
We discussed quite a few ideas this week
The story seems to be taking more of a fantasy tun and we are currently working out what parts of the story are told when and what stories are the “hidden” parts.
We are also currently working on the 4 seasons maps. And the characters themselves.
We had a few ideas about AR integration. We think the game may start with AR, you will scan an artifact with a phone and one of the characters may tell you some background info. This artifact then will also be present in a game. I think it would be interesting to 3d print that artifact.
Also the hidden stories elements will be small worldbuilding stories, that are not essential to the plot but do expand your understanding of the universe and they also may be told in AR. I was thinking that as you complete certain quests in VR you will be given short codes that you may enter on a specialized website where you will get those AR experiences. I think that won’t break the narrative and will connect VR and AR nicely.
My ideal view of the opening part of the story (where the events of the long ago are told) is a relatively static animation similar in the vibe to this one
As I think it give a feeling of a fairytale or a story that parents tell the kids before bed
More fairytale research
Fairytale has to have enchanted magical elements
Fairytale can be dark
It uses a lot of common fairytale clishes such as poisoned apples
The hero/heroine of the story will overcome the challenges of their destiny, that is ment to inspire the reader to act
Next steps RN
This week we carried on with writing the story. We had a conversation that sparked some new creative ideas.
I’ve also watched a few videos and read a few articles on the subject of fairytale writing.
We are also focusing on creating some initial concept arts for the characters and the environments. I for now I created mood boards and did a quick sketch for the spring environment. But I think I will try to draw a sketch later.
The mission for the next few weeks will be finishing the story as I thing it will provide a solid foundation for the ret of the work.
I think we may then have to separate the roles slightly and see who focuses on what part of the project, especially considering the distant learning.
I am quite interested in modelmaking and coding, and not so much in script writing.
Thinking about seasons through sketching
This week we worked further on the story
It seems that we are both interested in folcleur and myths surrounding 4 seasons. We are also both keen on the idea of having an Avatar type of backstory “Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.” And also possibly connecting seasons to their elements like water, earth, fire, air.
Chao also found this incredible connection of elements to certain 3d shapes, that I really liked and would want to include into the project.
Week 1
This week I mostly focused on submission so all the work for this unit is mostly discussing ideas.
I teamed up with Chao as we both wanted to do CGVR+AR
She seemed to like my idea of exploring 4 seasons. However, I think it’s rather rough and requires more thought, that I hope to do next week.
I think I would want to explore the nonlinear stories more and see what genres do feel the best in this type of narrative.
