Here’s what I have decided so far on the thesis plan
I will now start to add the writing on to the bones of the plan
How can AR technologies enrich and shape the future of heritage tourism?
How should AR applications interact with architectural heritage?
Intro
How did I arrive at the topic?
Personal experience+ current problems
How am I going to explore the topic?
Lit review, interviews+ state of the art (review of current projects)
What is the aim?
To suggest a future path of development to AR tourism applications. (What should be the next step?)
*(see bellow for a draft version)
Main Part (Chapters)
1Lit review
What are the current theories saying?
**(see below)
State of the Art
Review of existing projects (Museum of London, Retro future, smth else?)
Criticism based on literature
2 Interviews
What are the people in the field saying(1 confirmed, potentially 2)?
Uncovering problems of tourism
What further potential AR has?
What are the downfalls of AR (what it can’t achieve, replace)?
3 Mid Conclusion, bringing everything together
What should the app have?
AR is good for this
AR is not great for that
Further development sugestion
Conclusion
What we were trying to find out?
What did we find out?
How can the results be used?
Further research is required

My family and I have always been great architecture fans. We have visited a lot of architectural heritage cites in Russia and around the world throughout my life. One thing that has been consistent throughout those years apart from my amazement at architecture, was the poor management of many such buildings, especially in Russia. Which in many times leads to their complete destruction.
I have also often been to tours focusing on architectural heritage. And found that the presentation of the buildings wasn’t doing them any favours.
The most common procedure is to show you a low quality picture printed on an A4 piece of paper showing you how the building used to look. This never gave me a good understanding of the building nor was particularly engaging.
Additionally there is a demand for more technology rich tours.
As a consequence of all of the thoughts above I would want to explore the how can AR technology aid in this sphere. Where can they be best implemented and what their content should be like.
The thesis is going to uncover the answers through the mixture of different methods. Such as literature review of works such as this and that. Analysis of interviews the author hold with industry professionals of various background. They will present their perspective on the questions presented above. The work is also reviewing some of the projects within the topic realm to see how they handle the challenges presented by the medium.
As a final aim the works hopes to outline the potential path that the future AR applications may use.

Benefits of AR in Learning information delivery
How to preserve historical heritage?
Current models of tourism may fail to deliver diverse information
Current models of tourism require significant funding to preserve architecture and remain tourism-worthy
Restoration vs Preservation?
AR is a non invasive restouration
AR allows to get more visual based experience
AR is a highly engaging platform
AR enhances the effectiveness and attractiveness of teaching and learning for students (but not only students)
